Blur vs Oasis – Battle of the Bands

The nineties saw the surge in BritPop acts dominating the airwaves. This led to a number of high-profile rivalries between bands, desperate to make their mark on the British music scene.

We’ve finally solved the two decade long argument: Who was better – Oasis or Blur? We’ve delved into the Ziffit archives to finally bring you the truth and after twenty years of rivalry we can announce that Blur has finally won the Britpop battle over Oasis.

Oasis - Battle of the Bands

Noel and Liam Gallagher – Oasis

We discovered that people throw out seven times more Oasis CD’s than that of their rivals Blur.

The Oasis albums that Brits are most keen to say farewell to in their spring-clean are “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?” coming in at first place. With “Stop the Clocks” and “Heathen Chemistry” not far behind.

But it’s not just Blur’s back catalogue that’s in demand, the band recently reformed and are releasing their first album in 12 years – The Magic Whip.

Paul Treanor, eCommerce Director at Ziffit said: “I was personally taken aback at the number of Oasis CDs being sold on compared to Blur. There’s no accounting for taste and I will be holding onto my Oasis CDs, but Blur clearly seems to have won this battle of the bands by a long shot.”

Unveiling the Fantastic New Ziffit Android App

It’s finally here! The Ziffit Android app has arrived and is available to download for FREE in the Google Play Store today.

Now you can scan in your items and complete trades wherever you can get a decent Internet connection. It features all of the same functionality as, but with the added bonus of being optimised for your Android smartphone or tablet.

One of the biggest bonuses is that you can use your on-board camera to quickly scan barcodes. So if you find entering the numbers manually a little bit fiddly, the Ziffit app offers the perfect solution. Just fire it up, line up your barcodes with the on-screen scanner and *Beep*, your item is entered and an instant quote will appear.

5 Reasons Why You Should Download the Ziffit App

Ziffit-Barcode-Scanning-ScanSo, Ziffit have an app. It has finally happened, we are officially mobile.

If you have an iPhone, iPad or iAnything Else for that matter, you can now scan in all of those lovely books, games, CDs and DVDs. By the time the final refrains of Auld Lang Syne are fading away in 2014, the Android app should be available to download too – ensuring full coverage. Great news.

But of course, one question still burns bright: why should I download the Ziffit app? Well, here are 5 good(ish) reasons you should give it a go:

1. It’s easy

In fact, we’d go as far as to say it is easy peasy to use. Just download, open it up and start scanning in barcodes using your device’s camera. There are no numbers to type, no need to hunt down the ISBN and hopefully less room for error.

You can even complete a trade directly through the app. Just follow the normal process and enter your details safely and securely to offload your clutter in a matter of minutes.

2. It’s free

We all love a good freebie. Okay, so the Ziffit app isn’t quite a free meal or a tidy hatchback from a gameshow, but at least it won’t cost a penny. So even if you just want to see what something might be worth, without actually committing to a full trade or even signing up for an account, then look no further.

It’s very much a no obligation, commitment-free, cost-effective, straightforward, easy-to-use application. We love it and we hope you do too. However, if you really, really don’t like it or don’t fancy selling your stuff at the moment, it’s just as easy to remove. And, just like the man who went to the doctor because he couldn’t day his “th’s” and “f’s”, you can’t say fairer than that.

3. It’s quick

We’ve had thousands of customers use to sell their unwanted, unloved or unused items. During that time most have been happy to simply type in barcodes and ISBNs manually through the site. Indeed this is still very much available.

However, if you want a change of scenery or just can’t be bothered to put in all those numbers, the Ziffit app is the perfect antidote. Now all you need to do is scan in each item by hovering over the barcode with your iPhone or iPad. You barely need to press anything and it only takes a couple of seconds to register the item and add it to your basket.

Ziffit-Button_24. It’s Ziffit

Okay, so now we’re just blowing our own horn. But there’s never been a better time to give Ziift a go. We’re delighted to have received so many fantastic reviews and brilliant feedback from Ziffiters around the UK, but always welcome newcomers.

As you may have guessed from the above, it is all pretty straightforward. You won’t have to worry about delivering multiple packages, dealing with buyer’s questions or having to pay seller’s fees with us, no siree. Just scan your items in, box them up and send them off; then, just a few days later, the cash will be yours.

5. It’s pretty

Come on, the list would have looked lopsided with only 4 reasons. Plus we think it really is a thing of beauty. Sure there might be some rose tinted glasses involved, but the good folk at Brightec have done a great job designing and building the Ziffit app, so deserve a heap of credit. And when the Android app lands in time for the January sales, we’re sure that will be just as fantastic – maybe even better.

Don’t forget, you can let us know what you think at any time. Just email us on to give us your thoughts on the app, site or any other part of the service. Whether you’re happy, confused or have spotted a fault, we appreciate your feedback.

Also, if you’re reading this before Friday 15th November, you still have time to enter our competition to win an iPad air. Just send us a picture showing us why you think you should win to be in with a chance. Visit the blog post for full details.

iOS version is out now, click above to download. Android version out 23/12/2013!

We get asked a fair few questions at, as you might imagine really. However, one of the most common queries isn’t about trades, items or how it all works; it’s whether or not there is an app in the offing.

Well, we’re delighted to be able to announce – once and for all – that yes, there is a Ziffit app on the way.

The estimated arrival time is mid-October, so not long to wait. It is currently being developed by the good folk at Brightec, who are doing a great job getting the look and functionality just right.

The first version is going to be for iPhone and iPad devices (sorry Android owners), but we intend to roll out across all platforms and devices shortly after. We want to make it as easy as possible to sell your stuff, wherever you are and eliminate the need to type individual barcodes.

Our app is going to be just one of many major changes in October. Without wishing to give too much away, you should be seeing a lot more of The site will also be experiencing a few changes; nothing too major, but just a short back and sides to neaten everything up a little.

Anyway, you will hear all about the changes, updates and new gadgets on the Ziffit blog first. So keep your eyes peeled.
