To launch this exciting campaign, we at Ziffit have joined with Virgin Money Giving to encourage everyone to #DeclutterandDonate used books, games, CDs, and DVDs in the run-up to Giving Tuesday on 5th May. This partnership offers a new and innovative way to donate to charities via our free and easy-to-use trade-in app.
Giving Tuesday usually takes place in November each year and is celebrated on the Tuesday following the popular shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This additional date of public fundraising for 2020 has been announced by the movement’s organisers as an emergency response to the funding shortfall facing the charity sector, created by COVID-19. As a result of the current lockdown in the UK and the cancellation of a summer of major fundraising events, the charity sector faces losses of an estimated £4bn, according to the BBC news article.
Last month, we launched our innovative partnership with VMG in the shadow of the coronavirus crisis, to provide a unique and alternative way for donors to support charities by turning their unwanted books, games, DVDs, and CDs into cash for good causes.
- The service we provide at Ziffit, through our app and website, makes it easy to donate items
- Items are recycled and reused as many times as possible
- Once we receive your items, you can choose to donate 100% of the funds you receive to your chosen charity
Without leaving your homes, you can scan the barcodes on your unwanted books and media through our app or enter the details manually on our website to get a cash value. You can then pass the money, via Virgin Money Giving, directly to a charity of your choice. All funds raised will go to your chosen charity. Also, if you are a UK taxpayer, your donation can be bolstered by an additional 25% in Gift Aid too! The service is completely free and goods can be collected safely by free our courier service.
