Love your space: How to declutter efficiently and enjoy your home
A place where we eat, sleep, and for a lot of us, now work. In the rush of day-day life, it’s easy for our homes to become cluttered and to lose that sense of calm. We gather more belongings than we need, and gradually the space that is meant to be relaxing, is not.
Read on for some tips to make your home a space you truly love. No need to be overwhelmed, decluttering can be a gradual, ongoing process, and you can make some cash while you do it!
Remember to take before and after pictures, so you have a record of your progress. Who doesn’t love a transformation - or as coined by Stacey Solomon, a ‘tap to tidy’?
Different ways you can declutter, manageably:
Start with 5 minutes a day - walk around your home and gather things you no longer want
Label 3 boxes; Sell, donate and recycle, and put the items into each respective box
Create a decluttering list, for example, the rooms and areas you will clear
Get help from a friend or your family - decluttering can be fun!
Benefits of decluttering:
Less stuff = easier cleaning!
More cash for experiences or savings
A more serene home environment
Less waste - declutter gradually and rehome or sell items, rather than throwing them away
More space for activities…
Decluttering doesn’t have to be a huge 3 day, full-on project. It can slot into your day-day life and is likely to make you feel a whole lot better over time.
As our circumstances change throughout life, there are going to be times when we have more or less stuff - and that’s fine too. But if we start to feel like it’s a bit too much - we can easily start to change it with the tips above.
Create a space you love. Put things back in their place. Make the most of your home.
As much as we’d love to, we can’t help with everything you’ve decided to rehome, but your books and media might just be able to find a home here with us at Ziffit.
