Get it on now
Here at Ziffit.com we’re proud and incredibly pleased to announce that we are now sponsoring employee and athlete, Katie Gleeson, on her journey to the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
Katie has been workng for Ziffit.com for the last 2 years and in her spare time she competes on an international level as a rifle shooter. Having got a taste for the sport at her local scouting group, Katie quickly developed into a serious competitor and was promptly selected to join the GB Academy.
The time and the dedication that goes into a sport like this is not something to be sniffed at. With physical training, cardio exercise, not to mention the precision practice. (To put it into some sort of perspective, Katie is aiming for a decimal point from 10 metres away or a 5p from 50 metres).
Katie is the current British Women’s Rifle Shooting Champion and is part of Backing the Best, a Sports Aid and Sport England initiative for the next generation of elite athletes… And she’s just getting started too.
In May this year Katie competed in the World Cup Rifle in Munich and will compete in the Commonwealth Shooting Federation championships this September. She plans to put Ziffit’s sponsorship money towards a vital piece of equipment for training – a new precision .22 calibre rifle. The sponsorship money will also help fund her trips to major World Cup and European Championship competitions in 2017.
Paul Treanor, our eCommerce director here at Ziffit said: “We’re thrilled to support Katie in her sport and help make her Tokyo Olympic dream a reality. She’s a diligent and valued employee with exceptional talent and it’s great we can be a part of her sporting journey. We like to support our staff with their out of work pursuits as well as their day jobs.”
Katie Gleeson, added: “I’m delighted Ziffit has decided to sponsor me to help me improve in my sport. The company’s sponsorship helped me buy the equipment I need and will allow me to compete in more championship events, which is the perfect opportunity to train for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.”
We’ll keep you up to date with Katie’s progress and keep an eye out for news and events coming up over the next few years – whilst we follow her journey to Tokyo.
